In a developing nation like India, there is minimal focus on Primary Care Dentistry, when total population is taken into consideration, and Geriatric Dentistry does not seem to have made in-roads in Dental awareness even today.

At a glance, one will find that in all Metropolitan cities in India, a lot of focus on latest dental technologies ranging from Zirconium restorations, Dental Implants and usage of Dental Lasers in therapies till the availability of Dental cone beam computed tomography (CT) for diagnosis, but this is all affordable by a minimal percentage of the elite society.

Even today vast populations of India still do not get the minimum primary, leave alone any focus on the Geriatric Dentistry.

We at Dr.MALLENA's DENTAL FOUNDATION would like to take this mission to provide definitive Primary Care Dentistry to this majority population and at the same time bring in focus on the largely ignored Geriatric Dentistry

This is dentistry for the aged, who require special psychological and physical attention apart from the actual therapy.

The definition of Geriatric dentistry or geriodontics is the delivery of dental care to older adults involving the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of problems associated with normal aging and age-related diseases as part of an interdisciplinary team with other health care professionals.
